Origin & quality

Where does World of Vanilla’s vanilla come from?+

Our Bourbon vanilla comes from the SAVA region of Madagascar, one of the finest growing regions in the world. We work in close partnership with local smallholder farmers. We are also expanding our range so we can offer the highest-quality vanilla from the world’s best growing regions – all in one shop.

What does "Grade A" mean for vanilla beans?+

Grade A ("Gourmet") is the highest quality grade for vanilla beans. Typical benchmarks are a minimum length of approx. 15 cm, a moisture content of 30–35 % and a vanillin content above 1.6–2 %. Our beans clearly exceed these values: they are 18–20 cm long and have a lab-tested vanillin content of 2.1 %.

What is the vanillin content of your beans?+

Our beans have a lab-tested vanillin content of 2.1 % – significantly more than is usually declared for supermarket or wholesale vanilla.

Do you offer different quality grades?+

No, deliberately not. Our aim is that you, as a customer in Switzerland, don’t have to weigh things up or compare for ages: at World of Vanilla there is only one grade – the best quality available, whether beans, powder or Caviar de Vanille. So you can rely on it without searching any further.

What sets Bourbon vanilla apart from other varieties?+

Bourbon vanilla (Vanilla planifolia) is considered the classic, most aromatic vanilla variety and is the standard in pâtisserie – warm and floral, with notes of caramel and cocoa.

Use & storage

How should I store vanilla beans?+

Ideally dry, airtight and protected from light at room temperature – not in the fridge. Stored correctly, our beans keep for years without noticeably losing aroma.

How do I use a vanilla bean properly?+

Slit the bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds with the back of a knife. The seeds give the most intense aroma – and the scraped bean doesn’t have to be thrown away, see the next question.

Can I reuse a scraped vanilla bean?+

Yes, absolutely! Scraped beans are perfect for homemade vanilla sugar or for flavouring milk and syrup. You’ll find recipe ideas on our recipe page.

Returns & contact

What if I’m not happy with my order?+

We offer a 100 % satisfaction guarantee – or your money back. Just get in touch and we’ll sort it out without any fuss.

How do I reach customer service?+

The quickest way is by email to info@worldofvanilla.ch. We usually reply within one working day.
